Infrastructure and CablesInfrastructure and Cables

Infrastructure and Cables: Network cabling infrastructure should be designed by analyzing the current situation from the beginning and should be implemented in a way that will not cause any interruption or failure. In the cabling to be done, data cables should be preferred as UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair), STP (Shielded Twisted Pair), or Fiber Optic depending on the environment. The data cables used should support standards such as Cat5e, Cat6e, Cat6a, Cat7 UTP-FTP.

What is Structured Cabling?

Computer networks operating on CAT 5 / 6 structured cabling infrastructure provide a perfect infrastructure for advanced voice and data services. With structured cabling, the cabling infrastructure of data, telephone, security, network, and UPS electrical systems is gathered under a single roof, creating an integrated and flexible working environment. The infrastructure created with passive equipment such as cables, data sockets, data plugs, patch panels, and cabinets is the basic element of a healthy network, telephone, communication, and security system. This established infrastructure can meet the needs of the institution for many years.

Wiring Categories

Structured cabling solutions are described with categories. The category of a cabling solution determines the data transfer speed. DORTUS UK offers solutions with the most suitable cabling categories that have been carefully tested according to the standards.

Cat 5 cabling – Category 5 provides an open and flexible infrastructure that supports all local area networks up to 100Mbit/s Ethernet speed.

Cat 5e cabling – Supports speeds up to 1000Mbit/s (Gidabit Ethernet) for local area networks (LAN).

Cat 6 cabling – Provides higher performance (250 MHz) cabling systems. Currently supports up to 1 Gigabit, but has the potential to support higher speeds in the future.

Cat 7 cabling – Fully shielded and supports 600MHz. Provides more than twice the bandwidth of Cat 5/6, but is much more expensive and bulky.

Fiber Optic – Suitable for high-speed fiber transmission systems, including Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet Backbone technologies. Second generation fibers such as OM1, OM2, OM3 and OS1 are used.
